Thoughts on Lethal Force

The use of lethal force belongs in a museum. In an enlightened age, we should subdue suspects by non-lethal means and bring them to trial – not execute them at the twitch of a finger. Due process is every citizen's right and every moral individual's obligation. Taking the life of the innocent or enacting capital punishment on the spot is not only irresponsible, but also an affront to progress.

As the age of posses hanging horse thieves has come to an end, so should the days of armed citizens assuming the roles of judge, jury and hangman on the scene. If one wishes to defend his or herself – wear Kevlar. Do not confuse defense with offense.
